Fire Inspections & Prevention

  • Clermont Fire Department provides fire and life safety inspections on a recurring basis of all commercial businesses and buildings within the city as required by state law.  CFD fire prevention inspectors enforce the Florida Fire Prevention Code as well as City ordinances.  
  • The fire marshal, three fire inspectors, a plans reviewer and a safety educator work together to ensure proper fire and life safety requirements are met in new construction as well as existing commercial buildings within the City.   
  • The fire prevention staff works with the City’s Code Enforcement staff to eliminate unsafe conditions throughout the city. The plans reviewer is a member of the City’s development review board and is charged with reviewing site plans and working directly with developers to ensure safe and secure construction.  
  • The Department conducts more than 2,300 inspections each year, including construction inspections, annual inspections, life safety and any other required inspections.  The staff also conducts presents more than 170 public education events each year for all ages throughout the City.
