CITIZENS ACADEMY – SPRING 2024
The Clermont Citizens Academy (CCA) is a free, 7-week, civics educational program for residents to explore various departments for a better understanding of how their city government works and how the many services are provided.
CCA provides an up close and personal exploration of how the City operates. It is often the first step for residents who are interested in becoming part of local government. This program also provides information on many City processes and procedures, some of which are often misrepresented in social and traditional media.
Residents who live within the Clermont City Limits and are at least 18 years of age are eligible to participate. Residency will be confirmed and the class will be limited to the first 25 applicants received. Additional applicants will be placed on a list for upcoming programs.
Classes will be held on Thursdays from 5:30 to 8 p.m. beginning March 7, 2024 and ending on April 18 with Graduation. Students must attend at least six of the seven classes and graduation to successfully complete the program. If you are unable to commit to these dates, please wait to apply until you can.
The March 7 class will be held at Clermont City Hall, 685 W. Montrose Street. The CCA will meet each Thursday through April 18 at different City facilities including public services, police, fire and the arts and recreation center. A full schedule will be provided at the first class.
CCA t-shirts will be provided and should be worn for each session. Comfortable shoes are also recommended, as many of the classes are interactive. For more information, please contact Laurie Windham, Public Information Officer at lwindham@ClermontFl.org or call 352-241-7345.
